Cboe Europe (Bats) engaged us to help them with building selection, design and project management for their upcoming relocation. After a simple briefing process formalising fundamental requirements, we were able to quickly provide plans and advice for a targeted comparison. This comparison helped confirm a preferred building allowing the detailed design to begin. The overall design brief specified ‘a corporate space for a technology business’ but also required a ‘softening of the edges’ with natural finishes and colours. The ensuing generally ‘neutral’ design allowed freedom for a significant re-branding exercise to continue in the background with wallpaper and signage planned once occupation had occurred. Unusually, the Planning Department dictated a maximum permitted headcount for evacuation purposes because of the single route of escape, this included diversity for visitors. In order to comply a maximum headcount was agreed based on reduced occupancy rates.
