Arden short-listed a 3 floor, Grade 2 listed building, which was also awarded with maximum points for BREEAM, for its new Nottingham Campus. The Castle Meadows campus also houses the University of Nottingham and comprises architecturally distinctive buildings, originally completed in 1994 for HMRC.
We were initially tasked to confirm the suitability of the building for Arden’s requirements, especially considering the restrictions imposed by Historic England, with a feasibility study. A design brief was formulated based on the Manchester project and we worked with the same M&E consultants to create the space plans and performance specifications needed for tender. The award-winning M&E design has fresh air and heating provided through the floor voids and the additional plant needed to support the proposed headcount was housed externally requiring both listed building and planning permissions.
A more stringent tender process was requested by Arden and a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) was issued to 12 contractors with 6 short-listed for the D&B tender. Following a detailed cost negotiation exercise, LOOP Local was appointed to deliver the project with a phased programme to meet Arden’s intake windows. We supported Arden with setting up the JCT contract and project managed the phased build through to delivery. We conducted fortnightly validations of works complete and acted as client-side Project Manager to ensure the project deadlines were met. We also supported Arden with furniture specification and procurement routes, recommending products from UK manufacturers and supply routes to ensure a timely and well managed installation
